Back in 2021, after many struggles, I managed to dump my own PS4 copy of TLOU2 and kept my fpkg files. Recently I wanted to do it again and see if the process was made easier since I did it a few years ago. I managed to jailbreak my PS4 although I had to use a different host (Karo) as the old one I had bookmarked didn’t work anymore.
This time I tried dumping, again, from my own personal copy of the game using the utility Itemzflow. I got the dumped game, created the fake package after editing the eboot.bin in order to access the developer menu in game and put in on my console. The game starts, the developer menu is activated as I can see the text on top and lower left but once in the main menu I get this error message:
Cannot save. To save your progress in the current application, you must delete another application or video clip that is larger than 0.00 MB on the system storage. If you delete multiple applications or video clips, the total size you have to delete might be larger than 0.00 MB.
I can start the game and it gets the checkpoints but I cannot save. If I go back to the main menu the chapter checkpoints remain and can continue but if I exit the game completely, even those checkpoints are gone. When I start the game again I get the whole “select your language/brightness” stuff that you get when you first start the game. So basically I cannot save.
I tried everything. I thought that maybe dumping the game through Itemzflow was an issue so I tried dumping again, this time through one of the online hosts like I did the first time. I had to find another one on the Karo website and the old one ( and a few other ones hosted by Karo) didn’t work any longer. I got another dump, I even got the “complete” dump text file indicating that the dump was successful. Same problem again, I got the save game error message.
At this point I was at a loss. I thought maybe my PS4 had an issue. I loaded the fpkg that I had made in 2021 and this one worked. Nevertheless, I tried rebuilding my database, even though TLOU2 is the only game I have on this console and I also reinitialized it out of desperation.
Nothing worked, this message still appears. I don’t know what I did differently in the dumped files this time that causes the error. It must be something with the new fpkg as the one I made in 2021 works.
I have a PS4 slim, 7.55 firmware.
