RetroAchievements add Wii game support, launch event to run between March and July
Adding achievements for older titles when played via emulators, RetroAchievements has garnered huge support from the larger retro gaming community since its initial launch. Support for Wii games was teased all the way back in 2024 when GameCube games were added to the free service, with it finally being added today along with a brief video. To get started you'll need the most recent Dolphin release in version 2603, as well as a RetroAchievements account. From there, you'll just need to sign in and start playing your legally-dumped library.
Exclusive event badges are also available for those who partake in the launch event for the new platform, with you gaining one point for each game you beat and two for each you master within the first four months. Collecting 15 points will award you a Bronze badge, 25 will net you Silver, 35 will net you Gold, and 50 will get you the Grandmaster badge. Certain longer games like Monster Hunter Tri and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn also feature a point multiplier, rewarding you for not sticking to the shorter titles.
