    I'm very happy to report the Y cable did the trick. Every game (sans Excite Truck) is now running without a black screen! Thanks again @jeannotte for recommending I grab one! Would have never considered that to be the issue. Now to figure out why Excite Truck is still acting up...

    Much appreciated! I'm running ver 3.0 r1272 since that's what was available. Should I try a previous version? Also when you say Y cable, do you mean one that splits into both ports on the back?
