    it's just like installing KDE on any other distro, on the login screen you can tell it what DE you want to use, very simple luckily.

    Like everybody else has said, it definitely seems like a filesystem/SD card problem, I had something similar happen to an old 4GB SD card and had to upgrade to a new one.
