Anything from 0x10 to 0x2ee8 is item data.
The first two bytes are the Item ID followed by the Item Quantity; both uint16 short.

If you mean fully automated scenes created by the music, then it's very hard to impossible to pull off.
NSMBWii uses audio streams, which is much harder to parse than tracked music (NES, SNES, N64, GBA, DS, etc...).
Not possible with the editor, he did it by himself.

Forgot to mention.. since you can't edit the overworld yet, you can just edit the small thumbnails in the FreeForAll / CoinBattle modes.
