I bought this to annoy the cat with Koackl Cat Toy Pointer for Indoor, USB Rechargeable Cat Toy, 3 Light Colors Cat Interactive Toys for Dogs, Cats, Pet Chase Toy for Fun Playing Training Exercise Indoors https://a.co/d/23Qx69h
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I had snails in a old tank once, they kept having babies and went crazy, had a million snails. I collected most of them and donated to local fish store.
  • Veho @ Veho:
All the crazy maintenance stuff people warn you about can be solved by dumping some more critters into the fish tank to take care of it. Algae? Snails. Too many snails? Helena. General cleanup? Shrimp. Too many shrimp? No such thing.

I've had my oscars for about 6 years now, they are about 8 inches long now. I feed them goldfish feeders once a week.

  • Veho @ Veho:
Do you have a feeder tank or do you buy every time?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I just go and buy, theres a pet store close to me that sells them cheap. $2.99 dozen
  • Veho @ Veho:
I would be scared of bringing in some horrible fish disease.

Yea been lucky in that part, but they are a respectable company (Petsmart) and they tanks look super clean. But true you never know.
  • Veho @ Veho:
I had to medicate my fish for some swim bladder bullshit one time and it turned the water toxic green. It was scary.
  • Veho @ Veho:
This is after a water change. It was completely murky green initially.
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Fish didn't seem to mind.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Heres my tank (180 gallon), other oscar hiding behind rocks. I built it into my living room wall and access it from office.
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Very nice.
  • Veho @ Veho:
My biggest tank is 15 gallons

They say size isn't everything but if you want to keep bigger fish, you kinda need it :ha:
