    if the SD card is out, Wii boots to the warning screen (or your default screen if you changed it) and the wii can run without the SD card, and unless you have games (VC, WiiWare) saved data (Brawl replays) or going to homebrew (apps) you don't need the sd card in.

    1- take the sd card out before you turn on the system. 2- you can with GC (not sure about wavebid), but cant be done with wiiremote there is an homebrew app that allows timed bootmii sequence, but I dont remember the name.
