Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

For a start the connection for the wire to the dat0 adapter is definitely a cold joint. Which can definitely prevent the chip from glitching. Also you should be using solid core wires and not stranded ones. The stranded wires can cause problems with the glitch also. You could be getting a...

Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

I had this error once. It's something usually associated with a bad connection between the modchip and the dat0 line. Those Hwfly chips make it harder to diagnose because the issue can be between the ribbon ZIF connectors or the ribbons on the board. Or even just a bad board altogether. Check...

Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

Update to this, it was the connection between the Picofly and the CMD resistor on the motherboard, like abal1000x suggested! It was showing a reading on my multimeter but upon further inspection the connection under the solder mask was actually broken. Must have been a bad solder joint to begin...

Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

Thanks for your response! Yeah it boots all the way to the game selector. I checked through system settings and stuff a few times and all seemed fully working in the OFW side. But thanks to your suggestions I have some places to start now. Tomorrow I will try replacing the 47ohm CMD resistor on...

Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

Hello! Haven't kept upto date with thread for a while but I have a Switch OLED with a Picofly installed that was using a DAT0 adapter and I hadn't used it in a while but when I went to use it again it was just booting straight to OFW and giving me the 1 long 1 short pulse for dat0 not connected...

Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

Doesn't look rebelled to me. Just looks like bare pads with maybe a tiny bit of solder on some of them. Despite that you can clearly see the tab can bridge between any of the pads even without solder balls so not sure what you're trying to show here.

Solder balls are larger in diameter than the pads on their own. This isn't something that needs proving. Everyone knows you can bridge dat1 and dat0 with the adapters. It's the cause of 90% of these purple screens you see in this thread. You should do some reading of the older pages and catch up...

Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

It's very easy to insert the contact between dat0 and dat1 even with the "right adapter". The contact is more than big enough. There's nothing wrong with the EMMC from the factory you guys need to stop looking for outside sources to blame and just accept when you've made a mistake.

No there's nothing wrong with their use of lead-free solder. You probably heard what Sthetix said about reFLOWING the EMMC which I won't get into it but basically no one does that now anyway so you don't need to be worrying about the type of solder they used in the factory. To do the job in a...

Why would you reball the EMMC if you're just going to install a dat0 adapter lol. You reball it so you DON'T use those adapters...

Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

Honestly for me personally, trying to use wick for a bridge like that is kind of tricky. The best way for me is to just use the hot air station to remove the caps. Just by doing that it usually clears the bridge, then you can just re position the caps. Or if needed, you can remove the excess...

Should try extra 47ohm resistor on dat0 and CMD instead of replacing EMMC.

You're back peddling now but you were told this isn't a HWFLY support group and you came back with "ummm ackchually this isn't a HWFLY board".
