    Yes I tried it without gba exploader originally and with the ezflash V in my slot 2. Should I not have a folder in the root with my gba savegames and roms together? I don't know if they should be in the root instead with my nds roms.

    That's what's strange is that I have both the .gba file and the .sav file in the GBA folder I created, but if I run the rom from it I can't load the save file. I've tried both of the .gba.sav and .sav formats with the same results.
