September 2026 Nintendo Direct recap, new Metroid and Kirby games on the way

Good if you like that style of gameplay, which Metroid did not have until Samus Returns. I found the parry mechanic to be annoying, and Dread was pretty linear and required boss pattern memorization and fast reflexes. Those things aren't why I like Metroid. I'm glad that people that do enjoy...

September 2026 Nintendo Direct recap, new Metroid and Kirby games on the way

What a huge letdown. Again! I'm so tired of MercurySteamtroid twitch gameplay taking over the 2D entries in the franchise. I guess Kirby looks like it might be fun.

    Homebrew WIP GZDoom for Switch

GZDoom started supporting Legacy of Rust in 4.13.0 and this is 4.14.2, so it should work.

The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct recap, Ocarina of Time remake release date revealed

Was hoping for a re-imagining rather than just a new coat of paint, especially since they're charging $60/$70. But it's one of my all-time favorite games, so I'm willing to get it if it's available for $60 physical. I guess the triforce on Young Link's hand was just an oversight and didn't mean...

Banjo Kazooie PC port "Lighthouse" released, includes built-in randomiser and ROM hack support

I usually just stick with whichever port releases first unless a later one has significant enhancements over it.

    NO$GMB 2.5 DOS full version?

I remember that emulator. As I recall, I was able to get around the limit by doing a save state and reloading the state within 5 minutes as I played.

Sony is moving away from physical discs, will soon only release PlayStation games digitally

Even though I knew this was gonna happen eventually, it's still a shock to see it officially confirmed. Depending on what Nintendo does with the "Switch 3", looks like dedicated consoles are over for me after over 40 years of primarily gaming that way. Since consoles will no longer have...

Xbox to increase in price again in August, Series S set to hit $500

It will mean that there are enough wealthy people buying games and hardware to keep the industry afloat, I guess. I was originally gonna hold off as if things were normal and I could just buy one later at the launch price when games I want to play are out, but the Steam Deck prices shocked me...

Xbox to increase in price again in August, Series S set to hit $500

ALL hardware with RAM and storage WILL continue to go up in the near future. 1782502021 It absolutely will. Nintendo producing a huge amount of consoles before the prices went up too much turned out to be a great decision in hindsight - it's the reason they can wait until Sept. to raise it. The...

Steam Summer Sale goes live, various titles discounted by varied amounts

Considering the way pricing is going, don't worry about adding to your backlog. You might be glad you have it when non-wealthy people become priced out of new consumer hardware.

Xbox to increase in price again in August, Series S set to hit $500

I'm morbidly curious to see. So far, only consoles that previously were sold at sane prices for years have been priced over $500 for base models, so they already have install bases to sell games to. The Steam Machine isn't required in any way to play Steam games. What happens when the lowest...

Grand Theft Auto VI pre orders go live tomorrow, physical release limited to code in box

If my wife is interested in playing it as well I'll get it, but if not there's no way I'm paying $80 for it. EDIT: There's a rumored actual physical disc coming out in Dec. I'll hold off and consider getting that at some point if it happens.

Steam Machine waiting list goes live, starting at £879 with a 512GB SSD

Valve's biggest hardware success story by far, the Steam Deck, has sold, what, maybe 5 million units? And that was largely because of its portability. The Steam Machine was always going to be very niche even before the RAMpocalypse. Now it will be even more niche.

Steam Machine waiting list goes live, starting at £879 with a 512GB SSD

I wasn't planning to get a Switch 2 any time soon, but after seeing those Steam Deck prices I grabbed one ahead of the (first) price hike. It went from way too expensive compared to other handheld prices to being the cheapest by a wide margin.

Same. It's guaranteed I won't be willing to pay the asking price for the PS6. Here's hoping the Switch 2 being supported for the next 6 or so years means games will come out that target being able to play on low end hardware.
