There is a means of getting those save files to work, however, not only was it significantly more annoying, but I don't even remember what I did to get that working anymore. If you're still only like 120 stages in, honestly it'd be the best use of your time to start over...

    Okay, the only other thing that I can even suggest is make sure you're using a 1.5.0 rom of the game, and make sure that there isn't any extra data on your emulator.

    I just resaw what your error was, you didn't edit your save data to remove the update check, you don't edit the save in the zip file, you do the edit to your own save file, make a copy of it before doing so.
