Gaming Nintendo and the Current Online Infrastructure

I just think the *multiplayer* concept is WAY BROKEN. On my DSi, in my neighbourhood someone needs to OWN the SAME Game like I have AND needs to be wanting to play MULTIPLAYER like I do (at the IDENTICAL TIME)!!! What are the ODDS of that?!?! Like if it was AROUND THE WORLD, that would make...

    Homebrew DS Game Maker

It's like a Bold or CAPS but less annoying... IMHO. Or sometimes I use quotes (" ... ") and other times I use asterisks (* ... *)! :)

Gaming Nintendo and the Current Online Infrastructure

I agree with most of what you have said... That being said, Nintendo could do well by creating "MULTIPLAYER ONLINE-ONLY" games. So basically create a Server and have the DS/DSi/3DS connect as a client. That's what makes all the PC multiplayer game *fun* to play... I think Nintendo is too focused...

    Homebrew DS Game Maker

No I downloaded version 5.12 that uses .NET Framework 3.5... It works okay on my XP system. I have tested a couple of the *demos* only. I'm an experienced C coder - but I'm not used to the toolkit itself. All I know is the .NET Framework 4.0+ will only run on Vista/7/8, not XP. I tried to...

    Homebrew DS Game Maker

Well I downloaded "DS Game Maker" which is a GUI-Toolkit for developing DS Roms using a 5th Generation language in addition to permitting the tool to use the Nitro (or TWL) SDKs to further interact with the hardware. Interestingly enough, the GUI-Toolkit uses DevkitPro (which also uses...

Gaming Official Nintendo Games and updates...

Hmm... Thinking about apps and I think I have a NEW DS/DSi application that could be very cool: DSCalendar: Basically it would be a Calendar where you could add notes and have a *Photograph of the Month* that appear... The cool thing about this app, is that it could be the *basis* of my main...

Gaming Official Nintendo Games and updates...

My understanding is that I would need the official TWL SDK to be able to interact with SD card... I'm not sure how the 256mb of internal memory is accessed... My guess is Nintendo will only allow games that are licensed through them to get downloaded into internal memory... Meaning only...

Gaming Official Nintendo Games and updates...

Well I don't know about the DS Fat/Light because I am working with a DSi. And when I downloaded the Opera Web Browser it said it used X amount of slot out of 1,000. I think it was like 25. So my guess is that there is room on the DSi for downloading games and applications! But generally...

Gaming Official Nintendo Games and updates...

Okay so I thought I'd post this message in this forum instead of the "Homebrew" forum because it is more about *legal/official* Nintendo Slot-1 Cartridges. I have purchased several (a dozen of so) Nintendo DS/DSi games... And I have never seen Nintendo requiring to *update* or *patch* the game...

[PPOTW] Do you like micro transactions?

I watched the video, not sure what struck me more: 1. People not having enough time to play all the great games developed. 2. People not wanting to give up their characters in WOW so they pay the subscription fee. 3. There is not much board game piracy, because it's labour intensive to...

[PPOTW] Do you like micro transactions?

Well thinking about *having an advantage* versus free-play, I have been thinking about the D&D concept known as "Saving Throws". What it pretty much means is that when a player uses a spell (Micro-Transaction), each of your units perform a "saving throw" to try to either lower the damage caused...

[PPOTW] Do you like micro transactions?

I don't know if you know the game "Stormfall". It is a Facebook game. It uses Micro-Transaction in the form of Gems. Just being able to build WALLS around your castle costs like $10.00! If you want to upgrade those walls to level 2 or level 3, it costs EVEN MORE! I think this form of *gouging*...

[PPOTW] Do you like micro transactions?

Well using SSL for more than a login protects the *information* of each account. So by encrypting communication PAST the login, reduces the chances of other forms of attacks. Why? Because people cannot know what is the contents of the other accounts. Just using HTTP past a login means that...

[PPOTW] Do you like micro transactions?

Trading of in-game assets could be GOOD. Maybe set up two different types of access: 1. From the Internet using Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari with SSL security. This would allow players to *trade* their game assets with *security*. Obviously the downside is they would not be...

[PPOTW] Do you like micro transactions?

I was wondering if players (gamers) would be more interested in Micro Transactions if the game was FREE. So basically you would download the game FREE (no charge) and then player could play the game *AS-IS*. If players want more content (Assets), they would have to purchase credits and then...
