Hardware Be careful with third party cables. Friend was just banned for using a USB C to HDMI Cable. It was flashed with a custom FW to work with the Switch 2.

If what OP says is to be believed the only thing that would make sense is some type of discrepancy in the communication between the Switch 2 Console and what it believes to be the dock. When we intercept the HDMI Signal coming out of the dock with a capture card (especially in case of HDMI...

Hacking Best practice for preserving Switch 2 exploitability?

The only cartridge we happen to know about that has a firmware update embedded is Mario Kart World with 19.1.0 . It could be that DK Bonanza or Metroid Prime have firmware update embedded in them as well, but which version it is will depend when production in the factories for this games...

When will Switch 2 games be dumpable?

Not sure but we already know that the cards read differently. That is what the little notch on Switch 2 Cartridges is for. Nintendo will argue that this has something to do with the "reading method" used but it shouldn't surprise if that is just another effort to slow down dumps.

Unopened Switch 2 should I stay on launch firmware or do the SD update?

We already had entire threads dedicate do that question: https://gbatemp.net/threads/best-practice-for-preserving-switch-2-exploitability.671473/ Honestly: No one knows. It could be that 19.0.0-20.1.1 have some specific bug that was fixed that could be an entry way. But at the same time, 20.1.1...

In order to force the update with a Non-Express card, you have to format it to exFAT (like you did) and then navigate to the System Settings telling the Switch 2 to attempt to import Photos/Videos from that card.

Hacking Speculations about Switch 2 hacking

Aside from retr0id no one worth mentioning from what I am aware. Please refrain from spamming him though. Research takes it's time, he already getting spammed a lot and he also lost a console recently when researching.

Hacking Speculations about Switch 2 hacking

After what happened with Cubic Ninja on 3DS, I am CERTAIN Nintendo considered the possibility of Totk's QR Codes being used as an attack vector and probably took care of it. That and.. we almost certainly are sandboxed multiple layers deep, are we?

Recovery Mode Trick from Switch 1 still works. 0. Disconnect your console from internet so it doesn't download the firmware update each time after you cleared it. 1. Hold the POWER Button to bring up the advanced Power Management Menu 2. Select "Power Options" and then "Power Off" (not just...

Hacking Best practice for preserving Switch 2 exploitability?

Increased attention to the software to be honest. I not want to step the experts on the toes here, but aside from the software being "unhackable" past a certain point, what probably added to no software exploits being discovered was probably also a lack of demand. Everyone who wanted to run CFW...

Hacking Best practice for preserving Switch 2 exploitability?

We all knew that was coming earlier or later. I don't know if waiting 5-8 years for a successor might not exists is a viable strategy tho... ;) Might as well get a 20.1.5 then and uh, pray. And not skip the entire generation.

Update 20.1.5 (skipping anything before 20.1.1) has arrived: https://yls8.mtheall.com/ninupdates/reports.php?date=2025-06-18_01-15-01&sys=bee Very generic and suspicious changelog btw. Wii firmware updates that attempted to block Homebrew were labeled like: 3DS firmware updates that...

Hardware Mig Switch on Switch 2

Basically. Think of it as some type of "marker" that stains your console as one that used Mig Switch before. Those Telemetry however are also created when offline and submitted once going online, and persist even a factory reset. So yeah, the moment you use Mig Switch on a Switch 2 your console...

Hardware Mig Switch on Switch 2

As reading previous posts in this thread should have made clear, using Mig Switch on a Switch 2 will almost certainly get you banned. If not immediately, then after a short delay.

Hardware Mig Switch on Switch 2

This. We could of course just go the "UnlockSwitch" approach and not do anything until others paved the path for us and make fun of those fallen along the way. But realistically nothing is gonna improve until people started testing what you can get away with and what not. So making fun of these...

Hacking Best practice for preserving Switch 2 exploitability?

Hello! Please keep in mind that SDXC refers to the capacity of the SD Card (SD Extended Capacity; between 32GB and 2TB). It does not say anything about it's speed, which means it may not qualify as a SD Express card (you have to explicitly look for that name) and as such may not function with...
