Former Capcom employee defends Nintendo's Game-Key Cards, says it protects the industry

My Atari 2600 works and so do my cartridges and I OWN them. It's something special to have a cartridge of your favorite game. I remember when PS1 had a lot of RPGs come out that would be bundled with a map, posters, beautiful manual. Those were good days. Yes there was some piracy back then, but...

My GB to GBC hack wishlist and my thoughts on existing ones

Oh man. Was just thinking about Mole Mania. That would be awesome. Pretty soon all GB games will get the DX treatment. :P

If you could make your own game console, what would you do?

A long time ago I wanted to make a cube shaped 16-bit console called 'Power Star'. Recently I like entertaining the idea of an alternate reality version of the Atari 2600, without the bottlenecks the engineers had originally put into it, and let homebrew coders go wild with it.

It appears we've reached the peak of this generation's AI capabilities

While this so called AI could be put to good use, such as helping to come up with a true cure to cancer, from my observations, it's unreliable, it's being misused, it's overhyped, and eventually it will become like blockchain technology. Useless and pointless, and bloated to all hell. Blockchain...

PETA has sent a letter to Nintendo requesting that the nose ring be removed from Cow in Mario Kart World

I'm glad there are groups that want to promote ethical treatment of animals, but put the energy into where it matters, like no-kill shelters, trap-fix-release programs, etc. Not throw blood on people, soup on pai.. (oh, different group with missing brain cells), or go after a cartoon character.

Reddit is blocking The Internet Archive from indexing its posts

I would a little. Reddit has helped me out in the past finding obscure things, or 'how-to' information on fixing something.

New ad network 2025 - provide feedback here

I like this idea, but if a new visitor comes to the site, the first impression should be one to convince them to stay and register. If a newbie comes, and the page is plastered with ads.. they're not coming back. From my observation, it's very rare for someone using an adblocker to whitelist a...

Which game would you say changed your life?

Pacman. Before that I knew not of video games. I was only 4, but Pacman started a lifelong obcession with video games.

What happens if you take a bath in whiskey?

This. I've heard several times that anything soaking into your skin is similar to ingesting it. There would be enough alcohol to make it fatal. I could be wrong, but I sure as hell wouldn't try it.

New ad network 2025 - provide feedback here

I don't know how appealing profile customization is to generate some income, but then again, I'm old. It doesn't appeal to me at all. I'm still surprised at how PCGamer hasn't gone belly up yet. Conceited authors, quarter of the articles are pointless woke political opinion pieces (*only* ever...

New ad network 2025 - provide feedback here

Good points here. I'm sure there are ways to make raffling legal, if no free way to enter. I can understand that putting the site's survival on contributions is a risk, but still better than ads. As many have mentioned, ads drive people away. Especially when intrusive or sketchy. I'm sure we as...

New ad network 2025 - provide feedback here

I'm going to mention raffling one more time. There was a lot of excellent discussion since my last post, and it seemed to have gotten missed. What are thoughts on such an idea to generate revenue, and scrap ads altogether? You hold the draw once all tickets are sold. I'm sure everyone would be...

New ad network 2025 - provide feedback here

After all these years, is there no better way for a site to generate revenue than using obnoxious ads that no one will ever click on intentionally and for the most part piss everyone off? What about monthly raffles? And I'm being serious. A monthly draw for something cool, like an Intellivision...

What's something you think people should 100% know?

I genuinely hope that someday you'll be in a place where your kindness gets rewarded by kindness and not bad actors trying to take advantage of you or abuse you. I can relate to your experience and have been there. It's not fun. There's always an out though. Sometimes, all you can do is walk...
