Hardware Buying a GBA Flash Cart in 2013

I tried buying one from here: http://www.3dscardshop.com, but was told they aren't actually in stock. Waiting for an answer on whether they ever will be...

    Gaming K101 up for preorder!

Hopefully someone who pre-ordered can verify this. Considering that this is the resolution of the iPhone, I'm a little suspicious that this is actually the resolution given the aspect ration shown in the videos.

@[member='ruilong']: is the resolution definitely 960 x 480? the screen doesn't look to be in a 2:1 aspect ratio.

Are there any plans by the K1 team to release a new version with these pads under the d-pad? These definitely would be negatives to me, but I can be a pretty harsh critic. I hope that K1 fixes these quality control issues before the K101 is released.

I did love the GBA SP form factor. Ruilong, why doesn't the manufacturer release an updated version with a headphone port, USB charger, and RTC while keeping it the same design?

The reason I'm interested in the K101 over my CAANOO is the promise of perfect emulation of traditionally hard-to-emulate at full speed with sound games like Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Golden Sun, Tony Hawk, etc.

    K1 GBA SP - First Hands-on Impressions

Thanks so much for the review. I think your issue with the buttons is something that Another World will cover too. This is now my main concern about buying the device. Hopefully someone from the K1 team can respond on whether they are fixing this for the current K1 or the K101.

Why is the firmware for the Black and Blue colors different from the firmware on the Silver one?

    K1 GBA SP - First Hands-on Impressions

That That's good to hear. At this point, I'm waiting for Another World's review, since it seems like the button issues may be a bit of a bummer. Beyond that, I'd like a black model which doesn't seem to be in stock. Also, on the Obscure Handhelds thread, the K1 team said they'll be getting a...

    K1 GBA SP - First Hands-on Impressions

For those interested, I have created this graphic to show how playing a GBA game in native resolution would look on the screen size of the K1GBA (2.9 in). Of note is that the screen would actually be slightly larger than the Game Boy Micro, which was 2 in. When the new firmware comes out, I'm...

    K1 GBA SP - First Hands-on Impressions

I haven't used the K1, so perhaps it is better on this device, but I've noticed blurriness in other handhelds when they stretch the screen to higher resolution. For example, the picture on my GBA Micro looks better than when it is scaled on my CAANOO.

    K1 GBA SP - First Hands-on Impressions

I'm still concerned about the higher resolution. I just fired up Metroid Fusion on my CAANOO to compare it at 240 x 160 to scaled up to 320 x 240, and it made things noticeably more blurry. Hopefully the new firmware will let it run native, but at that point the screen size might just be...

    K1 GBA SP - First Hands-on Impressions

I am definitely tempted, because I prefer the SP form factor, but the K101 seems like the one to wait for, since it will have a hardware-based RTC and actual headphone jack.

Gaming A Game Boy Advance 1:1 clone with extras.

So I've been emailing with the K1GBA team to get some more information. Here are some interesting bits: 1) Currently, the K1 supports scaling the resolution to the 320 width, and scaling and stretching to 320 x 240, but not displaying in the native resolution (240 x 160) 2) There are plans to...

Gaming A Game Boy Advance 1:1 clone with extras.

I guess it may be the picture. Given the specs of the system and previous info, there should be 3 possible scenarios given that the original GBA was 240 x 160 and the K1 is at 320 x 240: Fullscreen gaming at 320 x 240 (scaled and stretched) which is a 4:3 aspect ratio. This is what I thought the...
