Hacking Possible to Disable the Wii's (De)Flicker Filter?

Maybe they enabled it for the PAL ver because 50hz is a slower refresh rate and flickers even worse on a CRT than 60hz?

Hacking Possible to Disable the Wii's (De)Flicker Filter?

I thought we want to enable double strike to avoid the bilinear scaling, if bilinear is the culprit. But looking at the SDK it seems double strike mode is just 240p output from the console, not 480i with field 1 and field 2 containing the same image. There is no 480p double strike mode...

Hacking Possible to Disable the Wii's (De)Flicker Filter?

Yeah it's not the Wii's vfilter as Dolphin can always kill it regardless of whether the game uses compression, and toggling it on and off shows no difference in image quality (unless Ghouls n Goblins is set to 480i). So I'm 99% sure it's not Wii's vfilter causing it, but something exclusive to...

    Hacking USB Loader GX

Curious to know what data gets lost with WBFS -- surely it can't be anything in the disc image otherwise it would be corrupted and could crash?

I checked it out (Ghosts n Goblins) and yes the graphics do look filtered. Disabling Wii's filter in Dolphin has no effect on anything. I've never observed Dolphin fail to remove it from any game. Maybe the arcade board has its own filtering as those old arcade machines used CRTs.

GXSetDither seems to be: XXXXXXXX3C80CC0138A000613800000080C702205066177A98A4800090C4800090C70220B00700024E800020 XXXXXXXX seems to vary between games, but we always want to replace it with either 4E800020 or 48000028. For this example we'll replace it with 4E800020 ("return" instruction)...

The Windows version of WBF appears to be using only wit.exe and wwt.exe, which are the only executables inside its wit subfolder. WBF log (Sat 9. I also do not find the string inside it. Therefore something is going horribly wrong with wfuse.

Hacking Possible to Disable the Wii's (De)Flicker Filter?

Using SearchMyFiles app it found the gxD binary in 3 files: I only patched main.dol and it worked so it appears the game doesn't use soccerslam.dol/dsf. But I only tested the game going into main menu and starting a practice session, so maybe there are other parts of the game where it uses...

Hacking Possible to Disable the Wii's (De)Flicker Filter?

@mive I'm using 2 tools to play with GameCube images. 1. Wii Backup Fusion (WBF). This is most reliable way to extract all file hierarchy as it uses the WIT library. It is then easy to open all the dol files in a hex editor for searching purposes. 2. GameCube rebuilder (GCR). This...

Hacking Possible to Disable the Wii's (De)Flicker Filter?

Yes, you don't need to patch Mario Golf / Tennis, Nintendont patches them just fine. We were just doing that to discover the version of the function used by those games in case it's used in other games that Nintendont can't patch.

Post has been updated with SN Systems Pro DG patch. Thanks again to Extrems and mive for making this possible. There should be no GameCube game we cannot patch from now on :toot: There will still probably be some more ones like Rogue Squadron 3 which uncompress at runtime and need a...
