Hacking 3DS NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

Ok. So I'm totally out of the loop on everything, and have no idea what the current deal is even after searching around trying to figure out what's what. So here's my current set of equipment: 3DS on 10.1.0-27E My "primary" unit, has eShop and NNID account linked, used for legit stuff and...

Hardware nand flash dump (3ds xl)

Man, you guys get some crazy speeds. Mine's generally 0.9 for reading and 0.8 for writing. Takes about 20min per dump. Probably just a slow card reader, can't do much about that I guess.

Ok, took the plunge... GREAT SUCCESS! 4.4 returned to power! Seems kinda strange that it restores the time too, taking it back to yesterday. I did a little experimenting too, to see what would get done. I'd already accidentally fired up the camera via the shoulder buttons yesterday, so that...

Hardware nand flash dump (3ds xl)

Well how about that :P For whatever reason I figured they were supposed to do stuff inside the card itself. I have no idea if it's because the write lock switch is there now, but I'm getting a new error when plugging in the multi reader. FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF 00000008 00000000.

Well, I have the little tab from when it fell out while making the thing. But the reason I left it out was that it was never connected to anything in the first place, it just sat in its slot on the side of the card doing nothing, purely cosmetic.

Damimt. I upgraded to 4.5 with Luigi's Mansion, then did a bunch of stuff to test things out with the SD card, finally psyched myself up to restore the 4.4 backup... "This media is write-protected" Umm... what do I do about this?

Hardware nand flash dump (3ds xl)

Alrighty! So I've ended up with a disk image of size 954 MB (1,000,341,504 bytes), and I just played around with things again and definitely don't get any kind of error screen from the Belkin SD Reader unless it's plugged in (which just gives a 400 error I can't do anything with, but attaching...

Hardware nand flash dump (3ds xl)

Man what an ordeal. I think I resoldered those three pins around five times each, but I'm pretty confident I've got them all aligned properly now. Tested with shorting out CMD+DAT0 which gave the same F/F/7/0 result as before, CMD+CLK which gave 400, and DAT0+GND which gave 0/0/200/400000 or...

Hardware nand flash dump (3ds xl)

Not just yet! I seem to have managed to bridge the connection with 3mm of wire offcut from the SD adapter :P Not sure how well its soldered, but it's coming up ok on the multimeter. Seems like it should be stronger than the last, and more resistant to breakage...

Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. I've gone and snapped the ground wire on the ribbon cable where it joins to the board. Shit.

Hardware nand flash dump (3ds xl)

Oh, a bit hard to see in that pic. In that gap between the first third wires I've cut off the end of the second wire and it's soldered onto that rail going across there, connecting to the pin. And thanks! I've tested the full connection, there's no problems there. Current makes it all the way...

Hardware nand flash dump (3ds xl)

Hmm. Is it confirmed that FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF 00000007 00000000 *definitely* means CMD and DAT2 are connected? Because I just bridged the CMD and DAT0 with the tweezers (according to this image, which I've been working from) directly rather than through the adapaters and still got that error...

Hardware nand flash dump (3ds xl)

Yeah, that's the tricky part :P The case gets in the way of being able to see where things are going the closer it gets to closing. It *mostly* looks like things are lining up properly, but it's hard to be certain. I seem to have shifted it slightly or something now though. Connecting CMD and...

Hardware nand flash dump (3ds xl)

Hiya. So I finally got around to having a go at doing the the solderless board thing for this, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Was lucky enough to get a ribbon cable and connector that I could use to create the adapter like that, so it's super easy to route the cable out of...

    Hacking Wii disc file explorer/extractor?

Hmm, apparently not. It's mounting it alright, but the WOD directory isn't showing up for me. Also I found this: So does that mean this is basically the same as using Wiihttpd to dump the iso? Edit: Yay for showing off my n00bness. Got the WOD and FST directories showing up now, seems the...
