It's been a little while but I have an update! I got the ifixit precision kit and removed the stripped screw really easily! Then I tested with the shatter but functional top screen and it turned on!!! I already ordered a new screen, replaced it...
I actually have an extra top screen because I replaced one in another N2DSXL. Of course now one of the screws won't come out... I'm gonna try taking it to a shop this week, also gonna get the ifixit precision screw extractor set when I can
It booted into the home menu. Also I did inform the owner and we're gonna try a replacement. In the meantime I'll mess around with the N2DSXL again

@IC YO I MIGHT ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO FIX THIS 2DS!!!! I was messing with the motherboard...
Good news, after testing for a little while, I narrowed it down to the top screen. When I unplugged the top screen ribbon, it turned on. So I know what the problem is, and I just need to replace the top screen. Unfortunately, this is another...
Hmm... Hard to say. Nice that the motherboard is alive, though!
It's unlikely that it's one of the displays, since then, you'd expect a shut-off with speakers popping and possibly a white screen flash. But the possibility that one of the displays...
Good news, I swapped the board into my N3DSXL and it worked! So I know the board is fine, it could be any component that could be causing the problem. I don't think I have the time or patience to replace each part one at a time to see what's...

Yes, same thing when it's open. And again I'm pretty sure it's modded but I will confirm. If it is a hardware issue, do you...
Hi everyone, I was at a 3DS event in the city yesterday, I volunteered to take any broken DSes and fix them. I have 2 that I'm having trouble with, they both won't turn on. The first one is a New 2DS XL. The owner said it was working fine until...
Could be the shell. OG DS shells are extremely brittle due to their age, I reshelled a for parts Phat DS and the original shell crumbled to pieces as I was taking it apart.
That was my best guess, I doubt it's the motherboard. I'll get to work on swapping the shells later tonight and let you know what the results are. Thank you for the input!!

Looks like swapping the shell fixed it, it feels much better...
Hello, my friend sent me his DS Phat to repair, it has a strange issue where the d pad is "clicking" too much, if you press the center in, it will click. It will also click easily by pressing in one direction and tilting up or down (video...
