Using the color editor + stuff like weapon mods will get you banned however not because of the colors but for the weapon modding of course.     For good measure, don't mess with things like weapon modifications, map mods, music mods, etc as some of those (being the weapon mods) will surely result in a ban.     What does it do if I already have some of the gear? Like I have all the story gear plus the hariclip, school uniform and school shoes on my save. Will it overwrite those with blank versions of the gear?
