    I patched it with an older client, 2.55c and it works, but I occasionally get the freezing when I press start. Playable, but really annoying if it freezes and I havent saved.

    Same here with SC Lite Micro SD, when i quit in the middle of a game i gettwo white screens. Other than that works fine.

    Hacking EZ4 lite and loader file

    did u boot up th EZ F in GBA mode. I was having problems updating too, but I booted it up in GBA mode and held down R as soon as I saw the flashing GBA intro and it installed the new kernel.
