Thats a problem with the front polarizer, maybe the people that did the restoration used a bad one or didn't clean it properly before using it, or it could be the screen lens, try taking the screen off and turn it like that so you can see whats going on.
You are going to need a soldering iron with a really thin tip, or you could get some of those fancy ones that come with tweesers for tiny componentes.
Make some post in the forum and level up so you can upload pictures, that will me useful for getting help.
I got the 2.2 inch version that is drop and play, no cutting or soldering, I got it from "Cloud Game store" on Aliexpress (can´t post links sorry) is a bit smaller than the OG one but it comes with a resized glass lens, this model is not an IPS but it looks great and it doesn´t consume too much...

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.
