Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

Because for a lot of people, time is very precious, chip installation is just a side gig. The kit in the video costs $4 (when bought in bulk). Installation time = 30 - 40 mins.

Hardware The SUPER5 OLED screen mod for the Switch Lite uses a 1080p screen and stretches the Switch Lite's 720p signal to fit.

you should be able to see the solder paste is forming a connection to the exposed dat0 point if you tilt your soldering iron a little. How long you should leave it depends on your equipment. Minimum amount of solder paste, if you use too much, the paste will adhere to your soldering tip instead.

flux, and leave your tip there longer if you're not using a quality tip. it's tricky because low quality c210 cartridge doesn't heat up the tip of the iron properly but the body of the soldering iron will get hot and that will burn the flux, with enough practice you can still do it.

Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

It is not the mod chip or the install, why are you taking a video of it. Your installation is fine. You damaged your fpc connector or ribbon hence you screen isn't working. It has no backlight. This isn't a modchip issue. Fpc 2 in the image, check the pins or the ribbons. This has nothing to...

That's what I meant, you have no back light. The backlight Is connected to the daughter board then to the main board via the fpc. It's either the fpc ribbon or the the fpc connector is damaged.

Then you must have messed up your fpc connector(daughter board to main board). It's the one that goes over your battery connector if it's a switch lite. If the connector between main board isn't working, you won't get backlight on the screen hence it stays black. This is a very common mistake...

This normally happens when you soldered onto the wrong points. Can you please recheck the schematic?

Hacking Killed a motherboard doing kamikaze method

Well done! The diode value doesn't mean anything. Just use it as a rough guide but don't rely on it religiously. The diode value for layer 4 is also 0.4-0.9. For your next kamikaze, don't grind for the circular point. Instead go for the "I' trace, it's much easier. Or just make the hole bigger...

Hacking Killed a motherboard doing kamikaze method

Happened to me when I first started doing kamikaze. You accidentally cut the trace towards the circular point when you repeatedly apply solder and removing it. But it's easy fix though, just expose the thin trace and reconnect it. For next time when doing kamikaze, you don't need the whole...

I thought higher temp makes soldering easier..?

Don't forget the experience of 500 installs. Imagine if he made $50 per install. He would have made $25,000. 😮

Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

I only do it because I have a lot of unused CPU flex cable. It is really time consuming (removing usb c port, buttons, solder 3 resistors, then soldering all the wires etc etc). I'm not experienced like y'all, this whole process took me an hour.. whereas for pre-assembled flex it's like 10 mins job.
