    Except nand backup and restoration doesn't require custom code execution, it's strictly a hardware modification.

    Honestly, lives in video games are obsolete. Have been since we started playing on home consoles instead of arcade machines. In my opinion, if Nintendo isn't willing to remove them completely then setting up tricks like this one in an early level is a fair compromise.

    Well, I've heard that there are other points that you can use, but I have no idea where they are. Maybe contact the seller and see if they know? I guess it's also possible a new type of cable that doesn't require soldering in exchange for very dim illumination has been made since I modded mine.

    What's most likely is that whoever modded it used the point for the lower brightness setting. The screen supports two brightness levels, but adding a switch to the mod is more work so most people go with one point or the other. I'm afraid the only solution in that case is to open the GBA...

    You'll probably have to queue up to get one at a reasonable price by this point. Though I guess you could get lucky if you stake out the Amazon product page and buy only from Amazon itself.
