  • RichardTheKing @ RichardTheKing:
Do the Xbox Series and PS5 consoles have USB-C ports, or did Sony and Microsoft stick with "traditional" USB-A?

  • RichardTheKing @ RichardTheKing:
I know that the PS4 Pro has A, so I'm curious about the new ones.

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i don't really like seeing C ports on host devices because in most cases i'm gonna need adapters to plug stuff in anyway

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
usb-c is not quite standard on the host side most desktops only have 1 usb c port maybe none and on laptops it's really just the ultra slim ones where they use usb-c for everything normal sized laptops and gaming laptops still mostly use type A

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
not that i don't hate the type A 3.0 connector because i do

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they're not very reliable and they lose connection easily or if you don't plug them in at just the right angle you only get 2.0 speeds

  • KennieDaMeanie @ KennieDaMeanie:
    Ps5 does have usb c

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
in theory i would rather have usb-c on everything in practice things haven't come quite that far yet

  • RichardTheKing @ RichardTheKing:
Yeah, my 2018 Lenovo Legion laptop has one USB-C at the back, and one USB-A on each side (total two).

  • RichardTheKing @ RichardTheKing:
Apparently, from what I read, Microsoft stuck with USB-A for Series. No C anywhere.

  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
i want all my external drives to use usb c (because that 3.0 micro connector is awful) and i want anything i need to charge up to use usb-c so i don't need both a micro and c cable, i can just go with one, but for the host side, type A is still far more common so most cables that come with stuff
    are A to C

  • KennieDaMeanie @ KennieDaMeanie:
    That's the price tag

  • RichardTheKing @ RichardTheKing:
    Consoles need expansion cards now?
    Gift
  • RichardTheKing @ RichardTheKing:
Also, that might be the US price tag...likely gonna be higher here.

  • KennieDaMeanie @ KennieDaMeanie:

  • KennieDaMeanie @ KennieDaMeanie:
