Ryujinx emulator taken down after devs reach agreement with Nintendo

Nintendo would go after Dolphin before they cared about anything older than N64

Ryujinx emulator taken down after devs reach agreement with Nintendo

So, I'm going to ask again, did Nintendo do a C&D or a buyout, because those are 2 completely different things that ppl are saying,

Ryujinx emulator taken down after devs reach agreement with Nintendo

but that's not what the dev said. They said that it was a threat. If it was a threat, there wouldn't be a "buyout"

Ryujinx emulator taken down after devs reach agreement with Nintendo

Ok, so how the actual fuck could Nintendo enforce a C&D in Brazil as a Japanese company? Unless everyone was wrong in that Yuzu thread about Brazilian laws, and it's more similar to the laws of the USA when trying to sue someone foreign, wouldn't Nintendo have a miserable time trying to enforce...

Ryujinx emulator taken down after devs reach agreement with Nintendo

Dude, we do not know the details on what the agreement was besides the obvious. Again, if Nintendo was threatening legal action, why didn't the devs say that?

Exactly. If it was a C&D, why sugarcoat it? Why make it out as if it was an agreement?

Ryujinx emulator taken down after devs reach agreement with Nintendo

If so, then it's kinda similar to the rumour of what happened to UltraHLE, where the main dev got offered a position at Nitendo and in return, had to stop development of UltraHLE

But the dude lived in Brazil. Keep in mind Brazil has a major bootlegging industry, and many ppl said that it would be hard for Nintendo to sue in Brazil.

'people won't lay down their arms and concede to a shitty corporation that doesn't care for anyone and anything except for their legal department and their wallet, so the time will come where lots of people will hack Shitendo consoles, their services, make emulators, pirate games and all that...

Ryujinx emulator taken down after devs reach agreement with Nintendo

But again, we don't know said terms. For all we know, Nintendo might've played "nice" (at least compared to what they usually do) and given him some nice benefits because they couldn't realistically have down a takedown because of where the dev was located (Brazil). Not to mention like I said if...

Ryujinx emulator taken down after devs reach agreement with Nintendo

Look, no matter what you think of the situation, from what we know rn, this is a way better outcome than what Yuzu got. Also, do you know how bad the whole emulation scene was in the 90s? You had Sony trying to stop it by suing Bleem and VGS, and the whole UltraHLE controversy. Not to mention...

Ryujinx emulator taken down after devs reach agreement with Nintendo

Hmmm... Now that I think about it, Ryujinx is in a better spot than Yuzu in terms of legality. Unless I'm wrong, Nintendo didn't say that no one can fork Ryujinx (unless the main dev gave away the rights of Ryujinx to NIntendo), so it's possible someone will fork Ryujinx and not get themselves...

Ryujinx emulator taken down after devs reach agreement with Nintendo

At least it seems like it was a mutual agreement between the two, and not a DMCA or any sort of aggressive takedown, so hopefully the main dev got some good benefits from Nintendo (maybe a position?), but otherwise fuck man. This basically means that there are no active Switch emulators, and...
