ROM Hack UnkrawerterGBA: A tool to rip Krawall engine music from GBA games

Double-posting again to mention that UnkrawerterGBA is now at version 3.0! This version introduces the ability to rip modules to S3M files. This is a huge improvement for ROMs that originally used S3M files and effects. S3M music that previously needed XM compatibility fixes can now be ripped to...

ROM Hack UnkrawerterGBA: A tool to rip Krawall engine music from GBA games

I scanned through a collection of GBA ROMs for a Krawall signature (looks like "$Id: Krawall" in the ROM) and ripped the music from any that had the signature. (This yielded the list in the OP.) It was able to rip all of those ROMs successfully, so unless there's some older game that uses some...

Sorry for the doublepost, but UnkrawerterGBA is now at version 2.0, supporting pretty much all ROM files that use Krawall! It has a new command-line interface with more options than before. You can get it at https://github.com/MCJack123/UnkrawerterGBA/releases/tag/2.0.

ROM Hack UnkrawerterGBA: A tool to rip Krawall engine music from GBA games

Recently I ran across an old GBA game I had that I remember really enjoying the music to. I fired up GBAMusRiper, but it turned out this game didn't use the Sappy engine that most GBA games used. Luckily, it said in the credits that it used the Krawall engine, which I had stumbled across in my...

Hacking Question Current status of Switch homebrew/CFW?

I was pretty active in the Switch homebrew scene a while back, but since around March I've sort of dropped out of homebrew news. Could someone catch me up on what I've missed since then? (Just a basic list of bullet points of big releases/news is enough.)

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

Zip files are not flashed: Etcher is for img files (disk images). You can just unzip the file into the root of your SD card and that should work.

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

Run "su", type the password "root", then "pacman -S sudo" to get sudo.

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

I also got the "Inappropriate ioctl for device" error on my Pi Zero. I think it may have to do with the GPIO's...? The "cannot execute binary file" is because the file is built for an x86 PC and not an ARM device. Run this code in the folder with the files: # install dependencies sudo apt-get...

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

Some things I found while messing around: * GNOME works pretty well, but you need to rotate the screen to the left otherwise it is in a vertical orientation. I did this automatically by putting "{ sleep 5; DISPLAY=:0 xrandr -o left } & gnome-shell" into the .xinitrc file. It also looks much...

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

I deleted the old files and recopied the files directly from the tar (I had copied from an already extracted copy), and it worked Thank you for making this image!

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

I extracted @Gigaa 's image with the desktop environment to an SD card. I am able to boot to the SD card, but I can't load the desktop environment with "Failed to execute login command" showing on the screen sideways for three seconds before trying to load again. What could be causing this to...

Hacking Pin layout of Switch's game card?

The point of the card is that it is unopenable. Just finish Zelda, and then break it open :D

    Hacking browserhax_fright_tx3g crashes Nintendo Switch

That's what I was thinking when posting this, since the 3ds and Switch code is different, and the memory values written may be off. I got the same error code when running the plain iOS 9.3.3 WebKit exploit showed by qwertyoruiop (not adjusted for Switch, but exploit still works).

    Hacking browserhax_fright_tx3g crashes Nintendo Switch

I tested the browserhax exploits on my Nintendo Switch, and it seems like fright_tx3g is the only exploit that still (somewhat) works. If I run the exploit on the Switch, I get: Error Code: 2168-0002 An error has occurred. Please press the POWER Button to restart the console. If you...
