Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

How were the emmc issues solved? What was the difference between Samsung, Toshiba and skhynix? Were the emmc protocol timings different?

What is different about this firmware? How does it fix the Samsung emmc?

SD card readers which show up as mass storage devices can't be used to access boot0/boot1 AFAIK. Unfortunately I don't actually have any adapter or card reader that can access boot0 over 1bit mode. If such a thing exists do say so. FT232H with postal looks promising but it only works in...

Would you mind sharing which adapters you use that support 1bit mode so others can buy one if they need it. The small black transcend SD card reader which is recommended on Exploitee.rs doesn't support 1 bit mode these days. Only the new revision with a different chipset is available on amazon.

https://github.com/ignasurba/mmcblkNX/issues/1 1677262204 Alternatively you can use an SD card reader with the low voltage adapter. You will be restricted to 1 bit mode so the SD card reader will need to support that. SD card readers that support 1 bit Mode are quite rare but they do exist.

https://www.tindie.com/products/ignas/emmc-reader-for-hac-emmc/ This one can run at 1.8v if you recompile the Linux kernel and include the correct drivers. By default it works at 3.3v.

That's a great idea! It isn't a permanent solution because you will still need to rewrite boot0 when HOS is updated, but this would actually mak it a great test! If the pico firmware doesn't use dat0 as one of the timing anchors ,which I don't think it does, I don't see a reason why it shouldn't...

Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

Other people have said that they tried to boot into hekate with the pico using the leaked ubuntu firmware and were not able to do so, but as soon as they tried an hwfly it worked. I do think their soldering skills are sufficient too. Bad solder joints shouldn't be the issue here. We also know...

Hacking Hardware Picofly - a HWFLY switch modchip

So how do you explain the non flashable hwfly booting to a black screen on an oled switch with a skhynix emmc instead of the no sd screen? The same modchip boots fine with a Samsung emmc. The only difference is the emmc manufacturer. Which emmc chip does @Nagaa 's switch use?

And why is that? 1677251754 I don't mean to out you as being thick, I am sure you can put one and one together, but if the injection only works on skhynix chips then your whole theory of all emmc chips using the same protocol and thus being the same is wrong. If this is indeed the case a new...

Who else managed to boot into hekate with the pi pico? 1677248619 If you successfully booted into hekate please tell us your emmc manufacturer. Could this be it? Does the pi Pico only boot if it is run on a skhynix switch?

We will know more as soon as someone updates to HOS16 with a working pi pico mod.

The other thing you could check is to boot the switch without the cpu line connected to see if it has a function to Rewrite the boot0 partition. I think rewriting the firmware might be worthwhile instead of trying to reverse engineer this leaked firmware.

You can even power it up using the switch itself as long as the other lines are disconnected. Something like this:
