    You need to have the bootmii files still on your sd card. If you have deleted them, that is why it will not start up.

    In my opinion, the newer drives don't really matter. USB loading is better anyway, and if you want to watch DVD's there are far better alternatives than using a Wii. Either way, if he gets 4.2 or 4.3 both can be modded easily.

    If you held down the B button when installing it, and every thing seemed to work. Then you access it by holding the reset button when you power on your Wii.
