    I have a m3 real and have had similar problems but only on 1 ds. On my other ds and my kids ds it works fine with only the occasional hiccup....

    mini sdhc -- m3 works, xp & w7 says not formatted

    I had that happen once it was the mini usb reader adapter that was the problem. If you have another adapter try it. Hope it helps
