    You could always save your games using JK's save manager to make sure you won't (accidently) lose them.

    In that same way you could make a 100 yard sprint more difficult by shooting yourself in the foot. It works, but there should be a better way.

    Would you consider making an extra version where pokemon stats are altered? Like Drayano did in his hacks. I just find myself instantly drawn to the strong meta pokemon during the game but I'd love for other pokemon like Ribombee and Dlehmise to be able to match or even beat that powerlevel.

    So I just made some backups before trying to fix this and re-installing luma. I completely reinstalled Luma, updated Luma using the updater, but the error persist. What on earth could cause this?

    Assuming you have a copy of Moon as either a cartridge or an installation: If you have your 3DS hacked with boot9strap, you're running Luma3DS 8.0+ and you can play Umbra Moon by simply downloading the pack, copying the luma folder to your SD, and enabling "enable game patching" in the Luma3DS...
