    I bought a PS2 slim from fb marketplace, it has the matrix modchip installed. It will play CDs fine (PS1) but it won't play DVDs (PS2 titles). What could be the solution to this?     I have decided to respectfully give up on the fb marketplace PS2 after trying everything and nothing working. I am getting my japanese PS2 modded by a professional. Thank you all for your suggestions.

    I burned a disk with an iso of GT3 and it doesn't read it. It reads PS1 backups fine, and reads genuine PS2 disks fine.     I looked for disc rot and found none. Maybe this disc got scratched a lot and got rebuffed. I bought these used from amazon .

    But the other disks work fine (Disc 2, Disc 3). So I'm not willing to think it's the laser. Using a PS3 btw.
