    If the connector isn't proprietary, a more modern solution can be created without even opening the gamepad. I searched for the connector but couldn't find it anywhere. If anyone knows, that would be great.

    If you connect + and - then yes it will work but you can't charge it. You can connect the resistors in the same place as the battery's - (gnd) in port
