    Cruis'n NTSC - Works fine in game play but of course extremely slow loading. Minicopter Adventure Flight NTSC - Works fine but not the best of games

    So my guess is going to be that it is infact your DVD recorder. I bet if you put up the model of it we can verify that it will display PAL on a NTSC TV fine. So there is another cheap solution for people is to find some sort of pass through, perhaps a VCR or as already shown a DVD recorder.
