    You just made it very clear that you know neither languages. Chinese characters are equivalent to Japanese kanji characters, so if you had knowledge of either, you would be at the very least be able to decipher some of text.

    Definitely! I'm not saying ALL HGSS sprites were inherently bad, but some of them just weren't appealing, if at all. For the Gastly sprite, I would agree with you that it has vastly improved. Another one that comes to mind would be Gyarados, those that particular one would be difficult to judge...
