Yeah, really, out of the box what does this do that a USB CD/DVD drive doesn't do? All of the cartridge stuff is neat, but there've already been universal cartridge readers that can plug into USB, and it doesn't even come included for $200...

If it came already with all the slots for different cartridges or at least that would be the main goal, I'd see the niche audience who would want to dump their own roms or write them to catridges. But like this it's a PC with a disc drive...

Why shouldn't they try to compete with it? Pokémon Champions is clearly designed to be a VGC battle sim, but they don't even let you use what's currently VGC legal in Scarlet and Violet. The game doesn't even support best of 3 matches even...

My question is how can this have less content that a decades old game released in the Nintendo 64? How can this launch with bugs that literally DELETE your Pokemon from Pokemon Home? Why the hell is the framerate WORSE that Pokémon Legends: Z-A ?

Late, but my question to this is why they would even have to compete with Showdown in the first place. Afaik, Showdown is tolerated at best - it's not an officially-supported/endorsed program, and The Pokemon Company could strike it down anytime...
