The FBI has seized one of the most popular Nintendo Switch piracy domains

I mean the FBI seized MegaUpload in 2012. I don't think talking about it now is what caused that :P

Notch announces spiritual successor to Minecraft, calls it "basically Minecraft 2"

Yeah, although I guess he kinda stepped back on that. He's also made enough terrible comments to get a whole section on his Wikipedia page.

Nintendo takes down Yuzu-based emulators including Suyu, Sudachi, Torzu, Uzuy and Nuzu

On top of that, the license change would only effect subsequent distribution. Any version of the program before the change of license would still be GPL.

Nintendo takes down the Breath of the Wild randomizer mod from Gamebanana

As should be done for every mod. I think the entire DMCA should be repealed, but that's a much bigger issue. The least we can do when making, or even just playing other's mods, is to mirror them everywhere. At least Nintendo's lawyers mostly stick to pursuing action on websites with "one click...

ArticBase, a tool to broadcast your 3DS games to an emulator, has been released

Oh yeah, I'd seen something about this a few days ago, awesome work as always! Since I mainly use Citra for testing ROM Hacks and other development, I probably won't use this much, but I do think it's a great option for quickly loading up a game without dumping the whole thing. Also, as others...

Emulation Misc Is a totk memory editor possible? If so why has no one made one yet?

It's certainly possible, I've manually modified item ids into other objects on BoTW (using Cemu + Scanmem on Linux), and it's fair to assume that ToTK follows a similar memory map. I might have to look into it a bit more later this week, or at least write up the process.

3DS homebrew tool FBI title manager removed from GitHub

For people planning to archive git repos, make sure to use git clone --mirror to fully download all branches, and make sure any submodules are archived too. It sucks to see this happening, but I do understand why developers would want to be cautious right now. Hopefully it'll cool back down...

Romhacks and fan translations website CDRomance takes all downloads off-site after a DMCA threat

IDK if the ESA does this, but a lot of companies like Nintendo, Sony, etc. hire out to entire law firms to just send out copyright claims. It makes it hard to say who actually sent the message when anyone can just say they are a representative of a company. Either way, yeah, pathetic losers.

Wii Shop revival service "RiiShop" enters public beta

I mean, I don't agree with current copyright laws and length, but this is just straight up piracy. Not charging for it won't keep them safe from Nintendo, what are they thinking?

    E3 is officially dead

Sad to see it go, but I'm not surprised considering the last few E3s. Also, the ESA sucks. While not surprising, they are anti-repair and very anti-preservation.

Denuvo's DRM technology for Nintendo Switch is now available in the Nintendo Developer Portal

So, if Denuvo can ruin games even on high end hardware, I'm guessing it'll just make the switch blow up.

Microsoft to shut down Xbox 360 Store next year

Yeah, I think it's more of a problem with copyright law than it is Microsoft shutting down the store. I absolutely get shutting down a service for a very old game console, but, games that aren't available for purchase anywhere else should have their copyright forfeited.

F3 2023, the E3-like presentation for romhacks and fangames by Kaze Emanuar, releases its yearly announcements.

Always love to see these! I know how complex making even fairly simple mods for some games can be, it's so impressive to see what some people can do!

Netflix launches a game controller app on iOS

But will there be drift, with microtransactions to fix it? :P
