Hardware My switch doesn't charge, won't turn on, or is otherwise not functioning at all. Where do I start?

Could be one of the EMI filters or one of the diode arrays maybe? Stick your meter in diode mode and place the red probe on a grounding point and touch the black probe to the top of each USB port pin that you can access. Note down the values and the orientation you took the readings in and post...

Hardware Nintendo Switch Left Joy-Con IC Question

I resolved this in the end. It turns out the known good Joy-Con rail had actually gone bad. Go figure... Heh. Anyways I sorted it in the end.

Hardware Nintendo Switch Left Joy-Con IC Question

So a switch I've been working on that's given me an immense amount of grief is almost entirely functional save for one final fault I need to repair. The left Joy-Con will not pair when slotted into the switch in hand-held mode. The switch just doesn't detect it. I'm not entirely sure which...

Hardware My switch doesn't charge, won't turn on, or is otherwise not functioning at all. Where do I start?

I had the mother of all faulty Switches to repair, same one I mentioned above with the 3.3v issue. First thing I noticed was that the USB port was badly damaged, so that had to go. That port took out the M92T36, P13USB AND the BQ chip, so those all had to be replaced, which is pretty common...

Hardware My switch doesn't charge, won't turn on, or is otherwise not functioning at all. Where do I start?

Thanks for the reply! I worked it out in the end. It wasn't an IC believe it or not. The inductor next to the RTL chip had failed. I took another from a donor board and voila.

Hardware My switch doesn't charge, won't turn on, or is otherwise not functioning at all. Where do I start?

This is a great write-up. Lots of good detail here! I have a question about a problem I'm having with a switch that might make a good addition to your guide. If one of the voltage rails is out of spec, e.g. significantly lower than it should be like the 3.3v rail reading less than 1v (0.700v...

    Where to buy SX core?

Gotta say this is pretty annoying. I'm one of the few people that would quite like to have one of these available for entirely benign none piracy strictly homebrew purposes. I was hoping I could get my hands on one so that I could use the modchip to dump v2 bis keys from units that have dead...

Hacking Nintendo Switch autorcm no picture at all

Yep, that's plenty enough! That's the idea! You want to take the eMMC module from the machine stuck in RCM and put it in the working unpatched switch. Don't let either of the machines go online whilst you're repairing the eMMC just to be on the safe side. Search for Hekate and Atmosphere...

Hardware Looking for advice for on bricked switch

I have an interesting problem with a switch I picked up broken on ebay. The switch I bought was sold as black screen and not working. I kinda figured it'd be a charging IC, either a P13USB chip, M92T36 or BQ chip. I was wrong. electrically I see absolutely nothing wrong with this switch. No...
