    i didnt see anyone suggest this yet, but since u can turn the wii on with your wiimote, maybe after u do that hit the reset button on the wii. im assuming u installed hbc with hackmii so that may be whats going on, bootmii turning on and its an unsupported video format. try that.

    the update only deletes channels with the id "HAXX" and "DVDX" and the twilight patch. usbloader channels and others dont get deleted

    personally, i have this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16812816014 and a 500gb seagate drive hooked up to my wii and it works just fine. i could play multiple games without a problem and it doesnt fully spindown.
