Alright guys, got it working finally. When formatting the memory card it was setting it to logical instead of primary. Changing that has solved the issue. Thanks for all your time. Peace and love.
Got a new card that is definitely fine...still the same problem. The sky3ds isn't recognised by the 3ds. The new card creates a setting.txt when entered into the machine...but it's blank...there is no firmware listed on it, or anything else for that matter. Don't know if that means anything, but...
I'm not exactly Steve Jobs, as you may have gathered, but I'm going out on a limb and saying the card is OK. I've reformatted it, and it seems fine. The computer recognises it and I can transfer stuff to it. It's the right size and what have you.
I will do, but I'm not yet convinced it isn't just me doing the install process wrong. Could you link to a tutorial that's up to date and right for this particular card? It would be a big help.
