    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

I scavenged mine out of an AGS-101 that wouldn't stay on. Sure, I could have cleaned the power switch, but why solve one problem when you can make fifteen more? Still not quite sure what's up with the ghosting, but I'm also not sure if that's a thing I can fix.

There is no way to avoid soldering this; you are putting wires where they were clearly never meant to go and will need to be careful.

Did some fiddling once I got home; turning down the overall brightness does help with the ghosting effect, but there's still at least some if I let things sit for a bit. May turn it down just a little further, but I think it's at least acceptable at this point.

When I did it, I only connected one wire; the black wire connecting RECV to GND. However, depending on the severity of your problem, you might want to play with the potentiometer first; turn it clockwise first, and see if it makes any immediate, visible difference. If it does not, then yeah, get...

Washed-out colors seem to be a case where you just connect RECV to ground. Worked for a few people so far, at least.

Think I may have a new problem here. while the display is bright and crisp and all that, it is having some weird ghosting issues. If, say, I am sitting on a menu screen for a while, then go to a dark screen, I see some afterimages. Was most notable when playing Final Fantasy V, where I stayed on...

You are 100% correct, good sir. And I might also add that wiring that to ground does in fact solve my conundrum! Needed to doof with the potentiometer, but that's nothing. Things are in fact looking super great now, and the GBA has been assembled. Beyond my works, ye mighty, and despair, etc...

Okay! Got another 40-pin GBA, wired the ground from the P1 on the cable. Still getting washed-out colors, but that's not a surprise. Before I continue, could I get some confirmation as to where I'm sticking a wire to connect the REVC? Is it seriously the super-tiny hole in the square here? I...

Welp, think I smoked this GBA board. Got things hooked up, had the washed-out screen. Connected those three points, got white screen. Fumbled and connected batteries backwards for a moment, can't get any life out of it. I am an idiot.

Been wanting to do this sort of mod for ages now, and ended up registering here since you folks seem to know more about the process than anywhere else. Way back on page 26, Fenixt mentioned a cable that I've got on the way (http://goo.gl/n5yke8), and that it only appears to work with OEM...
