    Title is misleading.. I have 2 external HDD both powered and 3.5 PATA one did not work. This depends on the chip used by the manufacturer . The one that fails just give a blank screen not even an error.

    The SDHC makes more sense if you are in 4.0 where you can store/move WAD games to free up the wii memory. For Homebrew i think it should work, For you to launch/install WAD's from the SDHC you need the updated WAD manager 1.3 that can detect SDHC.
