Homebrew Homebrew app Sphaira - hbmenu replacement

I've seen both repos (tom and kefir) before, while sorting the forks by "last updated", and neither have any really significant changes. Kefircfw focus on small fixes and kefir-specifc additions, while tom is adding minor features. I haven't checked the others yet, nor do I intend to atm...

Homebrew Homebrew app Sphaira - hbmenu replacement

So, is it "dead" or not? The kefircfw updates were pretty minimal TBH.

Homebrew Homebrew app Sphaira - hbmenu replacement

So.... did anyone pick this up after ITJ vanished or is it dead? The most recently updated forks are from the kefircfw team. I like this much better than Hbmenu, and it'd be a shame to return to it. Not really in the mood to learn CPP and the inner details of libnx to keep this going atm, nor...

What do you want to see in the next Nintendo Direct?

    - New 3D Mario, really overdue by now. - Paper Mario or any new Mario RPG, even if it's unlikely due to brothership. - New F-Zero. - A cool New IP. As for what I know I won't get: - Pokémon World (will never happen, but whatever). - Substantial new content for MK World (MK8DX + DLC is still...

Acer announces the Nitro Blaze Link, a streaming-only gaming handheld

Buy a GameSir pad for Android, use an old phone. Heck, buy any decent snapdragon or mediatek. Way more useful than "streaming only" devices, with better specs to boot. I have yet to find a "Raison d'être" for these electronics. Maybe to fleece a few gullible consumers I guess.

Steam Deck gets a major price bump, more than 40% increase for US buyers

PS3 + Wii U is a LOT of gaming for cheap TBH. Those Deck prices are hysterical. Ayaneo / AYN etc, which were already much better, just got even more attractive.

Pokemon Platinum PC port gets a surprise release

Of course, but I don't have the $ do do my own RAID NAS atm, with storage expensive as it is. Maybe in the future, but I'll keep the cloud for extra redundancy. Online storage is just yet another reasonably good, accessible backup method to me. The main one is local HDDs (A 26TB, 8TB and 5 TB...

Pokemon Platinum PC port gets a surprise release

I'd never trust anyone, not even family, with my unencrypted files on their drives. And that's not only a matter of privacy, but integrity and availability. just use Kopia, Restic or something just as secure for it. Also, use Hetzner Storage boxes if you want online access @ 98%+ availability.

Pay $60 for a cleaner browser with less features? Yes, it's a thing.

It's even more baffling when almost everything is just a custom facelift/frontend for Chromium, or an old Firefox port. Ladybird Browser is needed ASAP.

Pay $60 for a cleaner browser with less features? Yes, it's a thing.

But... it's free for Linux, so you can run it for free from WSL/cygwin or similar solutions. There is no need to buy it. Even for mac, you can use a lightweight VM manager... The $60 is only for the most casual of users. Even the browser itself is just a capped Brave with less features. You're...

Original ZSNES developers reunite, emulator gets a revival as Super ZSNES with a swath of new features

I do, they look and feel worse IMO. Great to see it though. I've always preferred Snes9x, and that hasn't changed in the last 30 years... I guess it isn't changing now either.

Hardware Was Nintendo reasonable for only including 256GB internal storage?

Yes, the 256 GB is pitifully small. Internal Storage should be 1-2 TB for devices such as this. But people would cry about the price, so it's expected. The real issue, IMO, is to not even provide the larger capacity versions, or to allow for an upgrade. Me, and a lot of others, would certainly...

The Neo Geo AES+ is a modern take on classic hardware with no emulation in the picture

I know the reason for the price, what I don't get is the motivation for reviving obsolete tech and even paying a premium for it. There is no reason to use vacuum tube computers in 2026 either, which is why they don't exist anymore, despite being more expensive. IMHO, the only consumer grade...

The Neo Geo AES+ is a modern take on classic hardware with no emulation in the picture

Imagine paying over $5 for this... Even this new console is already hilariously overpriced for what it is. I feel it's an extremely stupid way to waste money. Then again, people use their money on even more useless stuff, so, yeah... Oh well, I at least hope they enjoy it for what it is. The...

Polymega Remix, a portable device to digitise and preserve retro games, announced

I even get the FPGA guys a little bit, but come on, people. Emulation has been the answer for retro games since 1995, at least.
