Double Fine's new adventure game shatters Kickstarter records

Pretty sure I came across it on Kickstarter itself when it was at around ~30k. Didn't think too much of it until I caught up on Dirt Nap and realized that it was the same Double Fine. =P Being linked on Penny Arcade probably didn't hurt public awareness either.

Notch suggests Psychonauts 2 to Schafer?

Could this be in relation to: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/66710809/double-fine-adventure?ref=live

Gaming How can I prevent my L&R buttons from breaking?

You'll have to replace the button itself, not just the plastic part of the casing. And believe me, that thing is SMALL. As I recall correctly, it's a small mostly-cubic thing around... 3mm a side? Probably less. [Photo: http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-93938399693634_2170_15453924 ] I've blown out...

DS #5647: Les Aventures de May: L'Etrange Disparition (France)

Now if this was available back when I was taking French in high school... Looks like it should be coming out in English soonish though. Came across a site that listed a non-France release date of August.

    DS #5421: Inazuma Eleven (Spain)

Ah, yes... that line reminds me of an old webcomic I followed years ago: http://www.ozyandmillie.org/comics/om20001105.jpg

    DS #5420: Inazuma Eleven (Italy)

As cheesy as it sounds, that's pretty much also what made me take particular note beyond "Oh, it's some sports-related game?"

    DS #5420: Inazuma Eleven (Italy)

So I've been seeing a lot of attention and praise for this and find myself intrigued but... specifically what are people drawn to in this? I don't ask to be inflammatory, I'm just not sure on the specific qualities of it.

UK 3DS launch set to eclipse that of the Wii

Is it just me, or does it seem like the tech battles nowadays seem to be mostly gimmick vs power? (I use 'gimmick' neutrally here. Can't think of the right word on 3 hours of sleep.)

DS #5294: Ninokuni: Shikkoku no Madoushi (Japan)

I liked the copy protection employed in King's Quest VI. The relevant part of the manual contained notes by a researcher exploring the place and had cultural notes like proverbs and translations recorded in it. Took me forever to pass parts of the game until I realized that the manual wasn't...

DS #5284: Golden Sun: Dark Dawn (Europe)

Just a heads up, if it's like the US version, there ARE points-of-no-return, resulting in permanently missable Djinn/[summons, whatever they're called...] and no NewGame+. There IS an AR-code floating around for the US version that lets you walk through walls that supposedly lets you get back...

So did any else take advantage of the no-RP/HP drain in the tutorial fight to pluck and hoe the entire field? =P

Gaming Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City

I was thinking to sub a Prince/ss with Shinobi for the enhanced dodge/physical block. And if the clone skill makes a 'fully functional image' as one of the skill calculators claims, that'd give a potent amount of healing going on.

Gaming Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City

Maybe, maybe not; I'm finding that EOIII is a LOT more forgiving with builds so far, and multiclassing is only going to improve that flexibility. ...Or, it could just mash your face into the ground if you don't have a perfect combo in the extra stratum. (Assuming there's on in this one too.)

DS #5153: Etrian Odyssey III: The Drowned City (USA)

Usually, being an operative word. Effectively, there's three categories of downloaders that are relevant: "would not have bought", "would have bought but did not" and "bought as a direct result". I have the distinct impression that the first category is the largest and the third is the...
