    You're fine, I did this last week on 11.4 and it downgraded just fine. It's still possible to brick but I doubt you will.

    It could have previously had cfw though. He could have also transferred the firm file to ctrnand. I don't know why someone would go through that much work though

    I'm pretty sure Nintendo has multiple servers for multiple locations. If it can't connect to one, it will find another one to connect to.
