Admit it, Wii doesn't have many epic games. We know they'll come, but who wants to wait?

Wait no more. Your Wii is a 100% perfect Gamecube emulator. Gamecube was the most underrated 6th gen console, with processing power that doubled the PS2, and piles of quality games that were ignored by anyone over the age of 12.

So let's play them!

GBAtemp's Top Gamecube Games:

Major Edit! I've moved the list to the wiki. If you want to add your favorites, reply to this thread as normal. The main list will be on the wiki so if I stop updating it, somebody else can take over. If you edit the wiki, reply to this thread so we know the last post you compiled.

GBATemp's Favorite GCN Games!

If you're going to play a backup copy, make sure your modchip is compatible. Sometimes you can fit several games on one DVD, sometimes you can't.

RE4 is by far the best, but you should buy the Wii version if you're planning to buy it now. Metroid Prime also rocks! Super Monkey Ball and Timesplitters: Future Perfect are really good either.

Donkey Konga is nice to try.

The ones I recommended are really essentials!

Also overlooked: Freedom fighters!

and Dessert storm, and rainbow six lockdown aren't the best games singelplayer but playing them co-op with friends is a blast!

Recommended

Supeeeeeerrrr Smash Bros Melee! its single player does get boring butin th end its the multiplayer thats the best, grab 3 friends and play its excellent!

I didn't play much gamecube, but I'll add my favorite:

Wind Waker - Regardless of the graphic style, the gameplay made it for me. While there was the classic DUNGEON + KEYS = ITEM formula of a Zelda game, the world was explored by sea rather than land, and each little plot of land seemed alive. I'll always remember being up late at night, headphones on, sailing aimlessly around the ocean and being overjoyed when I spotted a secret island with my telescope.

Others that I've enjoyed:
Pikmin
Mario Party (I forgot which one)
Wario Ware
Viewtiful Joe
Beyond Good and Evil

RE4
Super Smash Bros Melee
Viewtiful Joe
Zelda: Wind Waker
Zelda: Twilight Princess
Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
Pikmin 1 and 2
Timesplitters 2
Sonic Mega Collection
Naruto 4
Mario Sunshine
Wario Ware
Animal Crossing
Super Monkey Ball
F-Zero GX
Metroid Prime
Paper Mario
Battalion Wars
Kirby's Air Ride (no I'm not crazy)
Harvest Moon Magical Melody
Ikaruga
SSX Tricky/3/On Tour

hehehe great.. holiday will come soon and i plan to play some gcn games.. preferably rpg though

:/ to bad my experience with game consoles before i arrive in australia simply non existance since parents didnt allow me to play.. -,-;;..

so im waiting for the suggestions.. =D

There's a serious lack of RPG's on the Wii while we wait for Fire Emblem. However, gamecube suffered the same problem, no RPG's.

IGN listed,
Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean

as the best RPG on gamecube, though I haven't played it so I'm not gonna put it on the list.

My favourite GCN games (in alphabetical order):

Animal Crossing
Donkey Konga - single player is getting boring quickly but multiplayer is just so much fun (make sure to get the japanese version aswell)
Eternal Darkness - sanity factor ftw!
Pikmin
Resident Evil 4 - simply amazing (but I second the point to wait for the Wii version)!
Super Smash Bros. Melee - multiplayer is just awesome

That's all I can think of for the moment. But maybe I'll add some more later.

I don't own all these, but these are pretty much the essentials IMO (I probably missed out a few as I haven't played them enough to get a good grip on them):
Metroid Prime
Resident Evil 4
Super Smash Bros. Melee
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem
F Zero GX
Super Mario Sunshine
Wave Race: Blue Storm
Beyond Good & Evil
Soul Calibur 2
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Timesplitters 2
Killer 7
Super Monkey Ball 2
Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes
Geist
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Ikaruga
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
Tales of Symphonia

some exists on other consoles, but I think they are played perfectly fine (or better) on the Gamecube, therefore I recommend them.

Eh...

Super Smash Bros Melee
Tales of Symphonia
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Animal Crossing
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Mario Party 7...

^ Seconded. Just look at Resident Evil for example. I really love the 4th part but I couldn't stand the controls of the other ones (0, 1 that is).
