But you've successfully built working a XCI from an NSP-only game, right?
I mean, if you can do that, I'd think you aren't doing anything wrong (maybe just an extra missing step then)

Oh really? My only source of release info is NSWDB :P
We are talking about the same game right? (SMO, and not BotW)?
damn, why did I read it as Mario Kart 8? my bad, sorry

for games with newer revision, there usually multiple .cnmt.nca files
one is for the base game which when extracted will be an Application_<TitleID>.cnmt file
and the others (can be more than one for rev002) will be Patch_<TitleID>.cnmt

I'm guessing you need to put all of these in one XCI file for it to work

Yes you are right, I can build a XCI file from an NSP so I think we are not too far off from making this posible!

while you're at it, try adding the DLCs too
it shouldn't be different than updates

We tried DLC thru LayeredFS and even tho we got Splatoon DLC working, we couldn't get XC2 DLC working so I have no clue what's going on! But im not gonna rest until I know there is a way to do this!

XC2 DLC is an ass. not even works with tinfoil

does anyone know if DS1 has the 6.0.1 file in it? or any game that does? because im trying to play it but i need an update. I "think" i used hactool right but the update folder is empty so either i screwed up or it doesnt have an update in it.

we do want this because we do not want to install nsp's right...?
Because I was wondering if it is possible if you have a second switch where you already are installing nsp's to Too:

1. install xci to system 1 (by first changing it to a nsp
2. install update nsp to update the game to system 1
3. dump the game witch is now updated to a nsp
4. build a xci from the nsp
5. play the updated game on cleanish console 2
but It probably is not working like this

probably not because base game and update using different title id, so I assume if you dump them it will result in 2 different nsps still

So this might be relevant:

Quick question, and sorry if its been asked. Is there any way to pack up the update (primarily) and DLC (not as important) into the .xci file? Obviously we get some of the big games having even bigger updates and would be really cool to pack big games like NBA2k19 into a single mountable mountable .xci file.

Is something like that possible?

Not for now. There is a bug in hacbuild that prevents working xci files with more than 4nca files that and I didn't look into it for a long time.
I have a general Idea of were the issue could be but I’ve been busy between work and working in things to add to nut_cleaner to look into it again. The idea was to look into it in the future.
I kinda was loosing interest since tinfoil usb installation release till this last SX OS update.
