Oh i thought you had Mario Kart 8 legit, thanks anyway!

Another member in another topic said that they were banned from playing non-legit games online, but was still able to play their legit cart online.

Yeah i know, but thats foor playing backups. Would like to know what happens with updates.

This thread needs a reboot and also, ppl need to stay on subject (if a ban has been issued) because this thread turned out to be a big whole debate of who's wrong and who's right... Not of much help to the community tbh. Not hating, just stating facts. It failed at what it aimed to do which was a good idea in the first place.
Nah no problem

Doesn’t matter your Switch needs no login or account to download system or game updates or the news.

And yet hear we are with Switch hacked 16 months after releases. Nintendo always blows it. DS hacked fast, 3DS about 3yrs, Wii damned fast, WiiU was hacked a lot earlier than it was released, and now Switch very ealrly in its life. Thrilling to me because I have a life long love of modding shit.

Honestly, I think piracy in the first world markets is really small potatoes now. People are too lazy and games are too plentiful and for cheap. In the US games are constantky on sale at retail and used is plentiful and cheap in any decent sized town. EShops offer tons of free, demo, subscription content. There is just not that much incentive to mod or pirate in the Western hemi. All other more economically chalenged parts of the world its much bigger numbers wise because the cost and availabilituy of software.

So in its major markets of Jap, US, EU, UK I doubt hacked Switch adds up to more than 2-3% of the installed userbase.

Yeah I kinda agree with this, in my country, the msrp price of Hyrule Warrior is equal two weeks of food, or a month if you do your own cooking.
So let us imagine DK+Kirby+Hyrule Warrior+Mario Tennis could feed us for how long? lol

Not that I do not want to support the dev, I do buy some Indie games + some AAA titles too (buy 1, finished it, trade it :P)

But realistically speaking, this comes with a twist too, not that many people actually owns a switch here, I bet it is only 0. % of the total global sales. We do not even have any official Nintendo Store or presence here, it is just all local reseller bumping price so high :P.

Andddd I asked on a major local forum, it seems no one knows (or maybe some do know) about SX OS, atmosphere, backups, etc. We are not english speaking country so maybe language is one barrier too on information delivery.

=====

BTW, if our eshop is banned, all of our purchase is gone? GONE? cmon.. i mean i might only have like 30usd worth of digital purchase..but it is still money yo

for $60 USD (the cost of hyrule warriors here in the united states) we could also eat for one month on ramen and kraft macaroni while drinking water. If local resellers are gouging prices so badly there why don't you importing games and selling them?

what, if you are comparing instant ramen + water, we can do that for 3 months here LOL. I mean 1 month of decent, nutritional, and healthy food.

game price is okay but most of the time is cheaper than US msrp, the console is not. Not a major difference, but still like the cheapest one is 25 to 30 bucks more than US MSRP (plus mostly no warranty at all which is a bummer)

No if eShop banned your purchased content is still viable unless you have data loss.

I feel for you. I started pirating shit when I was a kid back in the pre floppy days of 8bit computers. I bought my first cimputer in 84 with paper route money but was collecting games for Apple2 to play at school before even owning a computer. I was a broke kid and wanted games. I still love hacks and mods and all of it even though I have the means to buy games now. I am what you might call archivist....lots of stuff across all generations.

I appreciate it when other people make posts to actually try to help the community instead of just asking for handholding, so thanks. I'm not banned but here's my info so that it might help determine what triggered all the bans:

  • Banned: NO
  • Unchecked "Send Errors" in Menu: NO
  • SX OS Used offline: YES
  • SX OS used online: YES - for activation of license, not to download updates.
  • Played with SX Backups online: NO
  • Layered FS Used offline: NO
  • Layered FS Used online: NO
  • Played with Layered FS Injects online: NO
  • Does the Eshop work: YES
  • Backups updated with what Firmware? OFW
I just played splatoon 2 original in ofw online this morning, so seems like i am still good (for now at least)

Can’t believe I’m the first report using your guidelines lol. Ps, I’m going to link your thread on mine about errors and discussion, since I have an online section where I add the info I find through the forums: https://gbatemp.net/threads/sx-os-errors-and-comments-thread.507977/

long time lurker but decided to create an account today to share my experience:

[*]Banned: NO
[*]Unchecked "Send Errors" in Menu: NO
[*]SX OS Used offline: YES
[*]SX OS used online: NO
[*]Played with SX Backups online: NO
[*]Layered FS Used offline: NO
[*]Layered FS Used online: NO
[*]Played with Layered FS Injects online: NO
[*]Does the Eshop work: YES
[*]Backups updated with what Firmware? Not tried updating! - however, after a restart at some point my WIFI turned on while on OFW and it started downloading updates on my backups.. I immediately shutdown WIFI.

I was able to download to Demo when I went to ESHOP.

hope this help out others.. I am wondering though, if anyone has thought of this.. even when you are offline when you boot to SX OS and load a backup game for the very first time, Nintendo knows right away that there is an update.. how can this be? your offline and its the first time you ever booted that game.. does this means Nintendo is pushing update info to our devices even though we dont have that game? Any thoughts on this?
