my 3ds won't start, it has black screens after updated it
So can I save it? or should I throw it away?
What did you do before this happened? Does the blue light go on then off when you try to start it? This would mean you don't have arm9loaderhax.bin on the root, or your SD card is faulty, or your console's SD reader is broken.

More information is needed for us to help you with your issue, not just "Oh, I updated my 3DS and it bricked. I trash it or what?".

What were you doing prior to updating?
Were you installing A9LH?
Did you already have CFW installed?
All the simple stuff.

I was doing this on my Japanese 3DS XL

"Update your 3DS by going to System Settings, then “Other Settings”,
then going all the way to the right and using “System Update”
from 2.1.0 I think

probably made some mistakes then bricked it :/
first time trying to get cfw

But updating 2.1.0 is a unrecoverable brick, if i know.
EDIT: Sleep mode too.

was it a new 3ds xl or o3ds xl, if it was a o3ds then it shouldn't have bricked by updating, have you tried removing the SD card and tried booting

Can you access to arm9loaderhax? do you have a NAND backup? i know only the way to recover it is with your backup and hardmod. :/
EDIT: if you have access to arm9loaderhax and Hourglass9.bin, then restore your NAND (Keep AL9H)
my 3ds is black when I start it.. Should push I some buttons or something?
have that Nand thing, it told me to backup

Try to remove the SDCard, as gamerquest1 says. keep your nand, don't delete it!
Turn ON your 3ds and press START (if you have start_Hourglass9.bin) if you have access to Hourglass.bin, restore your NAND keeping AL9H
But first remove the SDCard and test it!

Don't throw it away. Get a new motherboard for it and swap the bricked one with it. Pretty easy to replace. There's several videos on how to swap the boards.

Uhh, if you are using a New 3DS XL, 2.1 wouldn't boot using A9LH+Luma, meaning you skipped a hell of a lot of steps. Not to mention the fact that the previous steps is "restore your NAND backup".

You need a hardmod and a NAND backup. Without those, it's a decent paperweight.

e: Wait, why are following the 9.2.0-ctrtransfer page? Now I am confused.

Hardmod would be cheaper frankly. Much cheaper. Though I'm not sure if there's anyone in your region that can do hardmods (anyone in this forum .. seems unlikely). Shipping out of the country would be too much hassle lol. Course you could try it yourself given that if you can't get anyone else to fix it then it's a paperweight anyway..

I think you skipped 3/4 of the installing a9lh page, because you don't update until you've installed a9lh and restored your NAND backup (or used the 9.2.0 CTR transfer if you don't have one). As squall said you wouldn't have been able to update if you had installed a9lh already as the home menu would not boot on 2.1 in that case.
