After many failed attempts of moving through time without villagers moving away, I finally caught Ankha try to move out...

Edit: I inserted my old backup using JKSV and rebooted on 11/2 (today) and... No one moved out? Isabelle says "its been forever" but no one moved out. Interesting!

There's actually a little time travel trick where if you deny a villager wanting to move out, you can then safely time travel as far forward as you like and nobody will leave. So long as you keep track of when you last played and make sure to deny someone before you stop playing, you can keep your game in hibernation as long as you like. Keeping a note in the 3DS notes with the date/time you last played is usually a good idea.

I think if you open your save up into the online save editor it'd be worth checking to see if any villagers have the setting enabled to have their boxes packed up. I have no idea if they'll show up as checked if you haven't touched it or if there's anyway to stop them from moving through the save editor. Maybe try checking it if they aren't so maybe they'll move out the next day and you can stop them? I'm not sure, I'd just make sure to keep a save backed up so you can always at least have that save where your villagers are sort of "in tact" so you might be able to time travel or play around with other trickery. Hope this helps!

Another shitty bump. I updated and ended up time travelling my way into getting Rosie in boxes ready to move. I'm pretty much screwed, I'd imagine? I can't move back a day and stop it?

Yeah you're screwed, unless you have a Rosie amiibo card to get her back after she leaves the next day.
