I agree with @LoganK93 though.

First of all, teasing is something that angers the masses.
They see what's in store and yet the teasers act like if they didn't expect that.
Well it's quite obvious it will.

It's like throwing an ignited match into gasoline, it won't only spread instantaneously, but it will also catch fire in such violent way. I like the dog analogy too, seems very fitting.

Second, close source projects are like cancer to a homebrew scene.
I am strongly against that when it comes to a community that has such a huge potential to create innovative and creative projects with a library or code that a closed source project uses.
It's narcissism in its pure form, egotistical and a pretty selfish attitude.

A clear example is Nintendont. How thankful I am that it became a thing in this regard and thank to its developers. Shows you how well a real developing community works instead of just closing the whole source code and acting like a self entitled coding "god."
Another example is the growing number of apps for the Wii U.

Short words, a hacking/homebrew scene sees its full potential with open source projects.
Not only to make new code and apps, but also to polish the already existing code and libraries.

At the end of the day, if a close source douche appears, I always hope for the day in which an open source community project dethrones it and brings the close source dev's ego down the toilet. I love when that happens.
I'm beginning to understand how this guy feels......lol

Come watch some Crash Bandicoot if you're bored waiting for the IOSU release

Oh no I was around. I just stopped paying attention for a few months and had updated to 5.4.0 just before I actually looked back. Then after waiting on that forever for nothing to happen I said "Fuck it." And let my fiancé update again. I'm not complaining really about the exploit not being released but all of the constant middle fingers and dick comparing by putting shit like "Oh nao wut do Wii have hear?! Oh yes its me <insert dev> with my own exploit/homebrew/holy grail but its private lolol but look I'm using backups and custom things lolol just code your own!" Kind of sucks. And then you've got guys like "5.5 has homebrew quit complaining " but its comparing apples to gold bars in terms of quality and usefulness. Sure, an ASCII game with two levels is neat, but it really can't compare.

Edited for grammar and readability (hopefully, damn phone...)
ELF Loader for the latest firmware has been out for less than a week and people have only been tinkering for about that long, I'm not a miracle worker unlike some people seem to think, and backups are a shit, are you really using your Wii U enough to justify that luxury?

Edit: And I do have full faith in Hykem, and understand that life outside of the temp is more important, and I am grateful that eventually there will be something for us. I just know if I was developing something I would be fully prepared from the backlash of the community.
Here lies the issue. STOP ATTACKING DEVELOPERS. JUST STOP. Stop biting the hand that feeds you, for free.
I think you might have the missed the part where I wasn't actually attacking a dev and simply saying that they shouldn't get pissed that the teasing they do/have done for YEARS should maybe change. I get being proud but simply going I'm smarter than you, doesn't this look fun, too bad." And forgetting that the last 6000 times a dev announced or even hinted at a release date they nearly get murdered, only to do the exact same thing and wonder why the general population gets mad. I have defended hykem from the beginning, including back in his own thread that is now closed. I am talking about the methods some may use, not saying He's a dick for delaying." But rather, "Duh, of course everyone's pissed." I am also calling out the ones who are trying to act like 5.5s homebrew is just as good since it obviously isn't right now.

Edit: @NWPlayer123 I was using backups as a general example. I've bought nearly every game I want on Wii u, some twice. And I know, I've been checking both this thread and the 5.5.0 progress thread every other day. So far I haven't seen a point in running a self hosted server and such to use the few small things available, but I'm looking forward to whatever comes out. In no way was I implying I'm not "getting my free shit fast enough." And I will also thank you for your continued work in the scene.

The point is that people have no right to be pissed, they have no right to the work of others at all. It's a privilege. Everyone here treats developers like they are a company, with deadlines to meet, profits to make and customers to please. They are not.

A developer has every right to be proud of their work, and they should not be shunned away from showing off what they are proud of, just because others get jealous because they do no have it. Who are you, or anyone else to say what they can/should do with it? They spend many hours working on their project and they can damn well do what they please with it. If a developer is showing off to say "I'm smarter than you, doesn't this look fun, too bad" then that just shows the developers personality rather than their developer skills and that you should stop giving them attention for doing that, but I don't see any developers behaving that way.

I have just made a account right now to post my first comment i have been watching this thread for 6 months now, and i have to say i agree fully with @LoganK93.

Hes right in a lot of ways. I understand that devs are making this for free, but we shouldn't be treating them like gods. I mean its one thing to say they are working on stuff but to give dates and not realse is what pisses people off. I know not all of them dont do that but some do. I mean say if your friends wanna hang out today and they keep delaying the time to hang out and not even showing up. Your going to be pissed off at them, and if they keep doing that, well your not going to bother to hang out with them any more. So for people telling others to not be mad well is a little absurd. of course others are gonna get mad, but than theres my next point.

Second the community here seems to be sinking. everyone is waiting for the devs to come through. either by complaining or praising. but why not have a forum where it shows every thing we have so far and what we need to make ISOU. I understand that not everyone is a programmer, I wouldn't call myself a programmer but i have experience enough to help out a little and im sure theirs others like me that also do. We could literally make a form that organizes what we have so far from developers and what we need next and others can help out on it to. we could even try starting from scratch if the devs havent gave any source code but im sure i seen some. At least than people would stop complaining and wait for the devs because while the devs are doing it by them selves we have something to occupy us to. Please dont think im bashing the devs i understand its a 1 man team for them but im just saying hey heres us lets try it to. also dont forget theirs not just those that comment on this site that are on here everyday to.

I'm really not trying to shit on any dev. I'm simply talking about the reality of the situation. People are going to react negatively. I'm not at all saying I agree with the mass mentality, I am saying that is how it comes across and how the vocal minority (majority?) take it as well. But I am going to quit posting as I do not wish to make the situation worse, and I very much want to see these projects come to fruition. Please don't let my poorly worded posts influence anything.

Wow you all are still arguing over that, man I come in everyone now and then and all I see is you guys doing the same thing ... Talking about hykem this IOSU release that, like literally what happend to "hacking and Homebrew discussion" just wait for a Release Thread when it's actually out until then honestly who cares, you all have your opinions I get that, but it's best to keep them to yourself until a proper [Released] IOSU thread is made

Once I finally figure out the network stuff, I won't even care if there is an IOSU release now. The only thing it will help is SD card or USB drive access, which would make it a heck of a lot easier for me to program saving and loading files, for things like emulators, games, or the paint program I am currently working on. But, once I get the network stuff down, I will be able to make any homebrew I could ever want, albeit it a little more difficult, but really, whats the difference between buffering data to load or save a file to physical media and doing it over the network?

Realistically, if you have a bad internet connection, the difference is uncanny. That's why I'm all for an SD Cafiine.

Its gonna influence my first post.
I have been around, but not fully, nor do I know how to code, since the wii and found myself in a situation where sharing my wii u had me updating it.
Anyway you're pretty right but i would like to think that there are many people lurking and waiting patiently. It takes a handful of children to post enough to be heard. Currently 5.5 users have not a lot to be grateful for. In one hand we have promises, yet in the other we have devs with rustled jimmies from the backlash that reality and those that are unable to face it have created. Exploits are fun to wait for, and without any hand whatsoever in there completion most people should be understanding. But I also think that devs should understand that they need to cater to the children or deal with the tantrum. That last bit is my version of the dog, but kids can only throw words and you have to let that hurt you.

All the major problems on these threads started when hykem invited all comers on to the IOSU hype train by mentioning specific release dates/periods on more than one occasion.

The hykem thread didn't help much either.

Well at least Loadiine GX was released recently

what you're asking for is all available in the Wiiubrew wiki, Hykem has been documenting IOSU in there before 80% of these users who make all this noise know what IOSU is, he shared everything he knows, he even shows how you can look for bugs to exploit the IOSU ^^.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

And yeah, there's no point in repeating the same thing over and over again regarding hykem's release, for a person who worked hard for months and kept sharing extencive information almost daily, the least you can do is trust in his dicision, if you don't, then too bad since you didn't pay for his timethe only thing you can do is flood the forum and waste readers time.

And about those who tease and don't release, well look at it this way, if you work on something so hard, you feel proud of it, you just feel like showing people, it's human nature, it feels good to see people impressed by your work. As another user said before me, that only shows a bit of the dev's personality, but he still doesn't owe anyone a release ^^, he worked hard so let him enjoy this temporal reward of attention ^^. no reason to get angry :).

Some of you people need to seriously get a life other than typing these ridiculously long paragraphs about bitching and moaning.
No one is forcing you to come here.
If you don't like it how developers brag, don't release stuff on time, tease you, etc. Then gtfo. They can do whatever they want and pretty much have the right after all the hard work it takes to create an exploit.

Your posts literally have no contribution to this thread. Other than driving developers away.
